Graphically editing well pads

Using the tools on the floating palette, you can reposition your well pads graphically in your 3D view either along with their wells or independently of the wells.

To relocate or rotate a well pad along with its wells:

  1. Open the floating palette (Tools > Editing Tools on the right of the Strip) and in the JewelExplorer check the checkbox for the well pad (you can also select the well pad in your 3D view after maximum zooming). Click the Transform Well Pad with Wells tool.
  2. Under Settings, you can choose to snap your well pad to another well pad so you can optimally place two well pads next to another. Select Snap to side to have the edge of your well pad snap to the side of the other well pad when you move it close, or Snap to corner to have the it snap to a corner of the other well pad. To turn snapping off, select Do not snap to other well pad.
  3. To move the well pad to another location, hold down the Shift key and click on it. A box appears around the well pad and the wells to indicate the well pad’s lateral area. Drag the well pad to its new location. To rotate the well pad along with all its wells, hold down the Spacebar and click on the well pad. Again, drag with the mouse to rotate the well pad.

To relocate or rotate a well pad but leave its wells in their original positions:

  1. With the floating palette open, click on the well pad in your 3D view and select the Transform Well Pads Without Wells tool.
  2. To move the well pad, hold down the Shift key and drag the well pad to its new location. To rotate the well pad, hold down the Spacebar, click on the well pad and drag to rotate it.
